Hello church...
A few things to update you all on, in this month’s edition!
In February, the young people led a morning service in church and they did super well! It’s so encouraging to see the young people stepping up and serving in these ways, with the hope and prayer being that opportunities like this will really help grow their confidence towards building a strong journey in faith.
LIFE Youth group made a really good start in the new year. We’ve been doing a series looking at Luke’s Gospel in a fun and interactive way, talking about all sorts of themes including friendship, compassion and generosity. There have been some really great conversations recently, between the young people themselves and as a whole group. This has been amazing to see it growing! We start each week with a high energy game too, which really helps the group dynamic, and they seem to really enjoy it!
In Rooted on Sundays, even when the numbers have been smaller, we still have brilliant and engaging discussions with the young people. We are going through the same series as the church, looking at encounters and Luke’s Gospel. This has been great to journey through together.
I continue to go into Tenison’s for the year 10 assembly. I’ve also recently started some mentoring (one to one) sessions. This happens on the same day as the assemblies, Tuesday mornings every other week.
As I write this article, we’ve just had our youth pancake party! We had eight young people come along, and it went really well. To celebrate the Winter Olympics, we did our very own SBC Olympics (just without the snow!) and this really helped bring a lot of energy to the time we had with the young people. The pancakes also went down a treat!
We are working on some more trips/events to run for the near future, especially in the school holidays (that proves to be the most popular time to run events!).
Thank you all so much, as always, for your continued prayers and support for all things youth ministry here at SBC. Please do continue to pray for the young people as they head into this next part of the year, particularly for those who will be going into and preparing for the upcoming exam season.
God bless you all. Katie Canning
